Second Republic lawmaker and former Deputy Speaker in the Defunct Bendel State, Sen. Francis Spanner Okpozo is dead.Sen. Okpozo died yesterday at his country home in Ozoro community, headquarters of Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta State.
The cause of the 85-year-old chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC is still sketchy at press time.
A family source who craved anonymity confirmed the death of the elder statesman.
Until his death, Sen. Okpozo was a leading voice on national issues and a strong pillar of the APC in Delta State.
He was Deputy Speaker Bendel State House of Assembly under the United Party of Nigeria,UPN until 1984 when the military seized power before the creation of Delta State.
He was also chairman, Senate Committee on Environment in 1992 after being elected to represent Isoko,Itsekiri and Ijaws in what is now known as Delta South Senatorial District in the red chamber.
