The Nigerian, who won silver at the Beijing Games in 2008, was competing in the Diamond League meeting when the landing of her jump threw her head back and saw her hairpiece dropping on the sand.
The 28-year-old looked back and grinned as her wig sat still in the sandpit, on a jump which officially registered 6.21 metres.
The jump gave her the 7th position, not where she normally will like to be.
She said she was not surprised by the accident, as she thought it could happen.
‘What should I do? I was in the zone, I competed and had to focus on it. I picked it up and did not care. It is like it is, I can not control it.’
