With the transfer window entering its final few weeks, Premier League clubs are starting to get desperate. Those who have not been able to bring in their number one target, or who are facing a sudden vacancy from an unexpected sale, are facing a countdown to get their business done.

Club executives are having to look further down their list of targets to find more achievable deals to be done. As higher targets are often those most valued by their clubs, it is a quicker strategy to try and pick players that are not happy at their current clubs - contract rebels, wantaway stars and fringe players. 

One particularly fruitful honey pot for this manner of shopping is Barcelona, so here are nine fringe players that should be on Premier League shopping lists for the next couple of weeks. 

1. Jasper Cillessen

The Dutch keeper arrived in Barcelona with a good reputation, having come from Ajax, yet had little to no impact on the squad last season. The 28-year-old made a solitary league appearance, in an embarrassing 2-1 defeat at home to Alaves, and is nothing more than a back-up to Marc-Andre ter Stegen. 

He was good enough to be Ajax's number one for three seasons - winning one Eredivisie - so could certainly do a job for a Premier League side. 

Potential Destination: Crystal Palace

2. Thomas Vermaelen

This one is a bit of a throwback, but Thomas Vermaelen is still only 31-years-old! The injury-plagued Belgian was once considered one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League, but has only made 11 league starts since leavingArsenal in 2014. 

If Vermaelen can maintain his fitness - and that's a big 'if' - then he can provide cover as a classy ball-playing centre-back for a top-table Premier League side. 

Potential Destination: Everton 

3. Aleix Vidal

Another player that has had misfortune with injuries is Aleix Vidal. The ex-Sevilla wing-back dislocated his ankle in February and missed the rest of the season. He only made five appearances in the league last year, but scored two goals and made two assists from right-back. 

The signing of Benfica's Nelson Semedo may limit Vidal's chances further, and a move to the Premier League would give him a platform to shine. 

Potential Destination: Tottenham Hotspur

4. Denis Suarez

Denis Suarez was once part of Manchester City's academy, before Barcelona bought, loaned, sold and bought him again. Suarez's complicated path appeared to reach a stable point last year, when he was regularly a part of Barcelona's first team squad, but 12 league starts limited the Spaniard of a true stage to shine.

If Barcelona prise Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool, then Suarez's opportunities would be limited further and a move the other way could be on the cards. 

Potential Destination: Liverpool

5. Andre Gomes

Eyebrows were raised when Barcelona splashed out 35m euros for Andre Gomes last summer, and the season that followed ensured that no questions have been answered. He made less key passes per game (0.4) than Javier Mascherano, and made less passes per game (32.5) than Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Whilst he possesses talent as a midfielder, it's not in the form of a Barcelona player. 

Rumours suggest that the club are looking to cut their losses on the Portuguese international, and a move to another big club could be in the offing. 

Potential Destination: Chelsea

6. Rafinha Alcantara

At 24 years of age, it has come to the point where Rafinha has to decide his own fate. His brother, Thiago, made the decision to join Bayern Munich at 22, and hasn't looked back since. Last season, Rafinha made 14 league starts, only one more than the previous season, scoring six goals and making 2 assists. 

His talent is obvious, but he deserves to be more than a squad player. Another player that could potentially prove part of the Coutinho deal. 

Potential Destination: Liverpool

7. Arda Turan

Not long ago, Arda Turan was considered one of Europe's best attacking players under Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid. Since moving to Barcelona - and waiting six months to be registered - Turan's stock has fallen greatly. 

23 starts in two years is not enough for a top-class player entering his thirties, and the Turkish playmaker certainly still has the talent to star in a top team. 

Potential Destination: Arsenal

8. Munir El Haddadi

The 21-year-old Spanish striker was highly-rated when he broke into the first team in 2014, but has failed to truly push on. He played at Valencia last season, scoring six goals in 22 starts, and returns to Barcelona as nothing more than a back-up option. 

His ability is obvious, but he needs a consistent season as the number one striker to really kick on and live up to the standards that he is capable of. 

Potential Destination: Southampton

9. Paco Alcacer

In a situation that appears similar to ex-Tottenham flop Roberto Soldado's downfall, Paco Alcacer went from prolific Valencia goalscorer to confidence-free disappointment in the space of a season. The Spanish striker made only six league starts last season and, despite scoring six times, did not look to be of sufficient quality for Barcelona. 

The 23-year-old is still in the early stages of his career, and the right move could be the fuel needed to get the striker back on track.
