The management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, have suspended two students of the institution over a bloody clash because of N3.8m largesse.
Following the reports which surfaced earlier this week that the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) excos fought dirty over N3.8m, the university management have reacted and have suspended the concerned students.
Recall, a fight broke out between the vice president of the student union and the social director when they were arguing out about the disbursement of money. This led to the VP stabbing the social director.
The SUG vice president, Tosin Jacob, with matric number LAW/2012/153 reportedly stabbed the social director, Adebayo Emmanuel, with matric number AEC/2012/002.
Jacob claimed she broke a bottle to defend herself as the case became one where she was about to be harassed as a woman.
Their notice of suspension was contained in a special release signed by the registrar of the university, Mr. Dotun Awoyemi.
According to the release, the students would be on suspension until full investigation was conducted to determine their level of culpability.
It read in part;
"Following a report of physical manhandling involving two members of the Students' Union Central Executive Council on September 5, the university Vice Chancellor, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, has suspended the duo indefinitely from the university as student.
"The VC is satisfied that the code of conduct of the university has been breached. He has therefore decided to suspend the students that were allegedly involved in the incidence to determine their levels of culpability.
"Consequently, the two students are suspended pending full investigation of the alleged breach of conduct."
